Early Orthodontic Treatment in Kuala Lumpur for Children
Orthodontic treatment is mostly used to prevent and correct “bite” irregularities.
Several factors, including hereditary/genetic factors, early loss of primary (baby) teeth, and harmful oral habits (such as thumb sucking and developmental problems), may all contribute to such irregularities.
Orthodontic irregularities can occur at birth or develop later in childhood.
Straight teeth help reduce the risk of tooth decay and childhood periodontal disease, whereas crooked teeth reduce self-esteem and make good oral hygiene difficult.Your pediatric dentist can use a variety of diagnostic tools during biannual preventative visits to monitor orthodontic irregularities and, if necessary, implement early intervention strategies. Before the age of eight, children should have an initial orthodontic evaluation.
Early Orthodontic Evaluation and Intervention in Kuala Lumpur, MY
Orthodontic treatment can start at any age. It is never too late, whether you are 16 or 60, to have your teeth aligned for a straighter and brighter smile. At Dazzling Smile Dental Clinic, we provide orthodontic treatment to patients of all ages, including children, teenagers, and adults, to help them achieve an aligned smile. However, because we believe that quality orthodontics begins at a young age, we offer early orthodontic evaluations for children.
The Malaysia Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their initial orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. This is because this is the best age to assess the child’s skeletal development and identify the position of their permanent teeth to easily correct malocclusions or incorrect jaw bone development.
Early detection of problems allows for more effective and efficient treatment. Around the age of 7, your child’s first adult molars will erupt. These molars form the back of the bite and ensure proper tooth alignment. This provides a framework to evaluate the relationships between front and back teeth, as well as left and right side teeth.
By screening kids at the age of 7 our dental team can identify potential problems as their teeth develop. Some of these orthodontic issues could be
Overbite – When your teeth are closed, the front teeth sit much farther forward than your bottom teeth.
Underbite – When the teeth are closed, the bottom teeth are further forward than the top teeth.
Open bite –When the back teeth are closed, the front teeth do not meet.
Crossbite –top teeth do not align properly with bottom teeth;
Crowding –teeth overlap and become crooked due to a lack of space.
If you have a child aged 7 or older who requires orthodontic evaluation, please contact our dental office to set up a consultation appointment.
